“Kill yourself.”
“You’re worthless.”
“Return to the manufacturer.”
“Look at yourself kid, there’s no happy ever after”
“Dreams are for sleeping, tears are for weeping,
do us a favour and throw yourself in the deep end”
The angels are in the corners, afraid to be brave,
Can you blame them? This is how they were raised,
Taught that anyone who desired it could be happy and great,
But wait:
only if you think exactly the right way;
if you’ve got the right face,
if you shut your mouth, you might just get out of this place
And all I have is these eyes that don’t see,
Ears that don’t hear,
And a heart that won’t breathe in time to the beat,
In the jaws of a monopoly who pretend they can sleep,
When we’re all set to hang in their conscience
with the standards we don’t meet,
but pretty lies are more appealing than the naked truth,
they call it ugly and morose as they hang it from the shortest noose.
Rotten to the core yet they want us to respect them?
Follow them? Lay down our lives for their corruption?
Put blinders on our kids, make our children the murderers
While they sit in comfortable office chairs,
all to serve a pointless purpose.
There’s a monster inside me and he’s inside you too,
He gets bigger when you feed but when he’s hungry, he hurts you,
So everything’s a choice, to be good or to be weak,
To do as you’re told, to be the righteous and meek,
Or else to use your eyes, they aren’t here for you to sleep,
Because humans are inherently broken,
Even you and me.
